Anger Management coaching

anger destroys intimacy

Have you noticed the more you try to work on your anger, the harder this becomes? Indeed, it appears when you seem to have your anger under control, you find yourself erupting. Every time you try to communicate the frustrations you are experiencing, your partner does not seem to relate or often feels blamed. Perhaps you have struggled with anger for so long that you often say you go from “zero to one-hundred” when in actuality, you go from “ninety-nine to one-hundred!” Or, at this point, you can’t even guess as to what made you mad in the first place, just that anger has seemed to overwhelm you. You know that anger has an overpowering effect on you, and you can’t seem to get it under control. You might have tried anger management in the past.

Maybe you have tried to express this to friends and colleagues only to discover they have the very same issues. Have you often told yourself, “If my family understood, this would be so much better!” I’m going to guess you try to avoid conversations or situations that you know anger you purposefully, only to find anger lurking almost everywhere. A typical outcome of eruptive behavior, especially in a relationship with emotional and sexual connection, is loss of intimacy. As intimacy diminishes, it manifests as a reduction in sex or a reduction in emotional intimacy.

Do you want to learn the time-tested, proven skills needed to reduce your anger? Do you want your anger to be the reason you are not connecting to your partner? Are you ready to work with someone who has journeyed through anger and has seen the other side; peace, connection, and increased intimacy?

ANGER is a normal emotion.

More than likely, you have been experiencing anger issues for much longer than you think. Anger is a common reaction to everyday issues that can arise within a relationship. Anger is also a normal reaction to many stressors in life, such as being denied promotion, traffic, children, or family. Further complicating everything, anger issues impede relationships from growing to a loving level. Finally, anger issues often manifest as a result of feeling out of control or threatened.

Too often, our life dynamics get in the way and create a cesspool of anger. It is a vulnerable ask to have you come into anger management coaching and explore some of the deeper aspects that cause you to experience anger. If you’re anything like me, the most critical connections in your life are damaged by anger. Anger creates a sense of embarrassment and shame that is very difficult to move through.

clarify your anger

The excellent news, anger coaching can help you understand your anger issues more clearly. As an anger management coach, it is my job to help you explore new ways of connecting to your family, not simply trying to fix who you are. Who you are at the core is a kind, caring, and compassionate human being who has never been shown how to work with your anger. In addition, anger management coaching can help you better communicate with your loved ones. I support you in doing this by identifying what messages are underlying the anger – sadness, abandonment, or maybe even loneliness – and learn new ways to speak these truths, rather than allowing anger to navigate our communication.

As an anger management coach, I help you practice new ways to communicate with your family and yourself. Anger management coaching offers tools needed to identify where you want to change and learn ways to integrate this new learning. For example, if you struggle with telling your partner you don’t feel seen or heard but rather erupt in anger, we’ll create new ways to do so together. For example, if you find you shut yourself down when your partner says, “ya, but …” then we’ll work on ways to say, “I’m not feeling met by you. Are you willing to hear me?” It will surely be a new way to address your needs, but remember, you’re tired of how anger runs your life!

How can anger coaching help me?

I imagine this is a lot to take in, and you might have a few concerns about anger management coaching …

Anger management coaching works best at identifying the behaviors associated with anger. You must first understand yourself before you do this. You cannot expect others to read your mind, but you can expect yourself to be in control during heated moments. I will show you how to win at anger. The reason you cannot simply “stop being angry” is the same reason you cannot tickle yourself. You tried, didn’t you? It didn’t work, did it? The brain stops you. With my support, you will learn ways your brain tricks you and recapture your behaviors.

What is an anger management coach?

An anger management coach helps individuals define goals and learn to control the process of anger. In this process, you will learn ways to control your angry reactions better, rather than allowing this outburst to control you.

Does anger management coaching work?

Not only does anger management teach you better ways to communicate your needs healthily, but it also will help you maintain better health. It can even help you address the side effects of unhealthy anger like headaches, sleeplessness, and stomach issues. But, try to remember, you’ve been angry for a very long time; it’s going to take some time to undo this process.

What if I cannot control my anger?

As an anger management coach, I remain invested in helping you understand the effects of anger as well as the desire to help you overcome this. Additionally, it is my job to ensure you feel supported and not judged in any way. You are not wrong or bad because you use anger.
